OMG!!! That's about all I can say this morning! (I woke up in love this morning. . . ) Jae came through like only Jae can.
I don't live far from the fairgrounds at all, so I drove over there and parked in the infield, not far at all from the grandstands where the concert was being held. I called Jae on her cell and told her I was there. I been keeping in contact with her all day. She started off going to the fair about noon and standing in line for Golden VIP tickets (the 400 seats on the track in front of the stage.) She got those then was first in line for the track seats. She stood in line for several hours but when she was let in, she got front row center. She ended up with like 10 front row seats. And I got to stand/center FRONT ROW CENTER. I love my Jae-Jae!!!!!
Jae came down to meet me when I got to the grandstands. We walked around for a minute, she wanted to get a refill on her drink. Guess who else had come with our party? Elvince, his wife and his little entourage.
There were no barracades between us and the stage and barely any security. David was very chatty and seemed in a very good mood. People had brought their memorabilia. One guy had even brought a flyer from the fair the last time David played, in 1972!
The highlight of my night (and now, a highlight of my life) came when during one of his first numbers, David looked right at me and motioned for me to come to him. He said something like, "You, come here." And I was like, "me?" And he was like, "Yes, you." OMG!!!!! I walked over to him (he was crouched down at the edge of the stage) and he took my hand and drew me near to him!!!!! My head and cheek were touching his!! I tried to lick him!!! Why, I don't know!!! Jae says she got some pictures of it. God, I hope so!!! But even if she didn't, I will have my memories forever!!! Even after I got home, my heart was beating soooooo fast! It is right now, thinking about it!!!
There was another girl that had brought a cardboard record from his fan club days and she'd been holding it out shyly, trying to get him to look at it. He'd been looking at memorabilia all evening. He finally took it from her, looked at it, kissed it and held her had for a minute. Gave her the record back, and she started crying soooooooo hard. She turned to me and grabbed me and cried on my shoulder for a long time. I'm serious. My shoulder was wet. I felt for her, I really did. Made me cry, too!
So, after all these years (I loved David Cassidy before I ever heard of a Bay City Roller), I got to meet him and touch him!!! OMG!!!!! I'm freaking out again!!! <SCREAM>
Here's a few pictures. I took 60. I haven't edited very many, so these are just a sampling. Oh, oh, oh!!! I almost forgot!!! When I was with David, the Indianapolis Star took my picture (it didn't make the paper this morning, unfortunately. Another girl did, though.) They even took my name and I made sure they had "Olivieri" right! lol I'm going to write them and see if I can have a copy of that picture anyway.
I got a pick from the bass player and one from the guitarist. The guitarist, Matthew Sully, looked really familiar. After the show, I called him over and asked him who else he played with. He was trying to think and said Sheena Easton, but couldn't name people off the top of his head. I asked him if he'd ever played with a Bay City Roller, and he said no "not really." I asked him about the OIAL tour in the UK and he said he'd been with David on that. I told him I was asking him because he looked familiar. Anyone know why he might look familiar?
Jae gave me a song list from the stage, too. The drummer, which was a female by the way, took her picture with Jae's sons and gave Jake her drumsticks. They also got David's towel.
Totally cool night. I keep thinking about the 9 year old me. Begging my parents to let me stay home on a Friday night so I could watch the Partridge Family on TV. That me would never believe this. I have met so many cool people from my childhood just this year. Barry Williams (Greg Brady), Leif Garrett, Ian (twice), now David Cassidy!!!
I went to the Star website and here I am!!!!!!!! I can't believe it and and spelled my name right, too!!!
